Description

Faced with the task of giving a voice to a central character that does not speak, Universal Pictures turned to Jack Johnson to craft songs that could provide a voice for Curious George. As a new father, it gave him the opportunity to make an album for both parents and children. Presented with early animations and the story line, Jack crafted new songs that capture the emotions of Curious George as he leaves the jungle to follow the Man with the Yellow Hat. He also turned to friends Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa to contribute songs that might bridge the gap between parent and child. Joined on the record by his band (Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski, and Zack Gill), Jack duets with three of the other songwriters (Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa), and does a cover of the White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends." Parents who watched Schoolhouse Rock on Saturday mornings when they were children will recognize Jack's take on the classic "Three Is a Magic Number," reinterpreted with the 3 R's as a call to protect the environment and Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies feels like so much more than your standard soundtrack due to its unified creative vision. While the songs have a universal appeal, their themes speak to a child's experience (or in this case, a curious monkey's experience) of the world.

5Great voice, great songs  Jul 29, 2010
My daughter loves both the movie and the music. Jack Johnson has a great, pleasing voice that is both sonorous and soothing.

If you like the movie, this CD is a must have; even without the movie, the songs are a good mix of up tempo and calming music, great for the kids to sing along with in the car. The album is aimed at the kids, yet the music is grown-up enough that it is does not cause the driver to retch, as too often is the case with kid's themed music that is either insipid or saccarine based.

Highly recomend.

5Really recommend, especially for the family with little kids  Jul 15, 2010
I'm just starting to listen Jack Johnson recently and just love his mellow and take-it-easy style. I listen to any kind of music, from rock, jazz, classical, country, pop, you name it, but his style is kind a special and just love it. I can listen his album whole day over and over with the repeat and feels really good. I don't know how to explain and the best way to get this feeling is to listen to it.

And this album, Curious George, is great especially if you have little kids. We can sing along with them and you can also enjoy it.

Highly recommend.

5Review  Jun 25, 2010
A perfect album that the whole family can enjoy. Parents shouldn't think they are trapped listening to high-pitched children's voices all of the time just because they have kids, there is quality family music out there and this is some of it.

5Love this CD!  Jun 08, 2010
Really nice blend of music and lyrics. Kids love it, I love it. Songs range from upbeat, happy tunes to quiet, calming lullabies. I really like that its a parent friendly kid's CD.

5What a wonderful and fun CD!! Hurray!  May 27, 2010
I believe this was my 4th purchase of this CD. I so love it. I have been a Jack Johnson fan and as a child I loved Curious George. It just seemed like a good match. I love listening to this while I work...as I am now. This CD is very upbeat and fun for kids AND adults. I work in a kid's hospital and loaned it out to my friend who is the Playlady in the atrium where kids play while they or their sibs wait for medical care. Mom's and Dad's are often there too. It is so positively received. I bought her a second when the first disappeared and one for my 20 something neice.

I invision this being used for kids 2 and up. It is fun to play and work by and makes me smile. It is not intrusive, does not disturb my thoughts or ability to work. Somehow I think it facilitates it. I bet it would be fun in the car with kids to cruse along with. Positivity and flowing music.... gotta love it.

Ordering from Amazon is so easy... just like 1,2,3 or A B C... :-)
