Description

The Innova 3100 Innova CanOBD2 Diagnostic Tool is the DIY’s choice that also comes with many professional features. This easy to use tool connects to your 1996 and newer car, truck or SUV, and retrieves a list of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and code definitions from your vehicle's computer. You can also view freeze-frame data which shows the condition of the vehicle when the code was set which makes diagnosing the problem that much easier. Combine this with Internet connectivity and the ability to interface with a PC, and you have a powerful, professional diagnostic tool in the palm of your hand. Many tools have already been developed to access these powerful on-board vehicle computers, but the Innova tool is particularly simple to use and surprisingly affordable. It is designed to be used by almost anyone, from a DIYer to the ASE master technician. The 3100 CanOBD2 Diagnostic Tool is designed to retrieve diagnostic codes in all OBD II (1996 and newer) vehicles. The tool features a unique patented all-in-one screen display and LED display for quick OBD I/M check, so you'll know if you're ready to pass an emissions test. The 3100 was built to display on-screen DTC definitions and user interfaces in English, Spanish, or French, and the trilingual language selection is accessed via a simple menu command. This device also stores diagnostic codes in a handy memory for off-car review and analysis. The 3100 is also equipped with the ability to connect to your PC. With the included cables and software you can connect the tool to your computer to generate, print, and save detailed diagnostic reports, and even update the 3100 via the Internet. The 3100 links to all OBD II protocols including CAN (Controller Area Network).

4Is it worth it  Jul 26, 2010
I am thrilled with the proformance of this scanner. Initally I was concerned if it would perform and be understandable. It does super well, and is capable to a lot more than I was aware of. Yep, good buy. Service was outstanding. Arrived on time and ready to go. Good communications, and service.

4Does as claimed  Jul 25, 2010
The tool works great, it does exactly as claim and is fairly easy to use. What I don't like is the on-line repair information. Basically it's a another sell. For those who have little background in auotmotive repair, it can lead to spending a lot of money for repair information. A public library would work well with this product.

4Quick and easy scan tool.  Jul 23, 2010
I got this scan tool so we could recover codes before taking our vehicles in for service. It is fast and easy to use. I also like how it displays a small description along with the code. Some of the cheaper scan tools just display the code and make you look them up. I plugged it in, turned the car on, and in a few seconds knew exactly what was wrong with my car.

I dont care for the PC software supplied. I was dissappointed when i installed it and realized I would have to pay an expensive fee to receive more diagnostics info each time you scan a vehicle. The info from the tool is good enough anyway.

I would recomend this product. I think it would be hard to find a better scan tool for the price.

4saved me time and money  Jul 20, 2010
Better than what's used by the national chain.
The parts store offers free check engine light tests.
Their reader only said "O2 sensor". Parts guy said other things can trigger an O2 fault,
so you should clean this, check that, etc. Wasted 2 weeks chasing nothing.
This reader said which O2 sensor was bad and why. Replaced the sensor...problem gone.
Oh, almost forgot. Beat local prices by more than 50 percent!

5Excellent Value-Full of Features for the Price  May 09, 2010
This product is excellent. From the moment it came out of the box it has worked as advertised. I immediately plugged it in to my car and had the codes in no time. One advantage to this code reader is that it can pull and interpret the Manufacturer specific codes, as well as the generic codes. It also allows you to connect it to the internet and produce a report with the codes and brief description of what the codes indicate. This is a great value, an excellent product for the money.

Also I was looking for a case, but since the reviews for the plastic case for this unit were not glowing, I found a small aluminum case on sale for $10 and then found some foam at a craft store for about $7, and have a really nice case to keep the code reader, manual, and software snugly in one place for under $20. I highly recommend this code reader.
