I can't believe they're playing with it daily Jul 27, 2010 My house is a conduit for most cat toys. I bring them home, my cats play with them for an hour to a week, then never again. The toys get in the way until I finally gather them up and give them away. But both my boys are enjoying the turbo scratcher. It took them about a week to actually figure out they could roll the ball themselves, but now I find both of them half laying on it, rolling the ball back and forth. And even though I've offered them many scratching substitutes for my couch, this is the first one I've ever seen them scratch on.
So it works as advertised and it's cheap. Can't recommend it enough!
It's a hit with my kitten! Jul 25, 2010 I purchased the Bergan Turbo Scratcher after reading the reviews on Amazon. I looked around at my local pet stores for this item first but then realized, they were charging twice as much as Amazon! I never have a hard time finding $25 to qualify for the free shipping offer. My 13 week old kitten just couldn't get enough of it when we first got it out of the package! Now today, a few days later....it is not getting as much usage as I would like to see. I'm hoping she'll continue to play with it now and then. The scratcher is small enough to just slide under my couch when not in use. This product seems very durable and I can see it lasting for many years. It is also nice that the cardboard scratching area can be replaced overtime if it gets worn out. This product also came with a pouch of catnip that you can sprinkle into the cardboard scratching area that helps draw your cats to the toy. Overall, I recommend this product! Your kitten will love it and you will enjoy watching them play with it too!
2 out of 3 cats recommend it! Jul 23, 2010 I picked this up on impulse hoping that my 8-month-old kitten would use the scratching pad in the center. (She loves to scratch in the "horizontal" plane rather than the vertical scratching pads we have, and she was tempted by carpets in the house.)
When it arrived, all 3 cats were intrigued by the catnip. The kitten, however, went for the ball in the circular track, and promptly popped it out and chased it around. I replaced it, but this pattern continued for several days.
The kitten does love to scratch the center cardboard, and it has become quite worn in the past month. I am pleased to see that the refills are not extraordinarily expensive, as I will surely be needing some soon.
Our middle cat can occupy himself for quite some time with the ball in the track...he loves to pounce, lay on it, bat the ball back and forth.
And the oldest cat (at just 4 years) couldn't really care less, as you cannot eat any part of the toy!
So...all in all, at 2 of 3 cats approved, not a bad purchase...and the kitten has decided that the toy is more fun if she leaves the ball in the track, so we're not hunting for it anymore..
A Big Hit! Jul 20, 2010 We were adopted several months ago by a 5 year old (vet's best guess) cat who had never lived anywhere but the streets. While he seemed quite happy to acclimate to the indoor life, scratching furniture or anything he could get his claws on was a problem. Until this scratcher arrived that is. We barely had it out of the box and he was rolling on it, scratching it, batting the ball and acting like a kitten. When we added a touch of the cat nip, he made happy noises we'd never heard before! It has been a month since the scratcher arrived and, while he will scratch at furniture to get our attention every so often, he goes to this whenever he feels the need to scratch or play. It did need some backing applied to the bottom to keep it from sliding all over the tile floors but that was an easy fix. This is a light weight product that is flat enough to throw in a suitcase if you need to travel with your furry little friend - a big plus as far as we are concerned. The only "real" complaint: The sound of the ball whizzing around the track and chirrups of joy that seem to go on for hours in the middle of the night!
Worked for while Jul 19, 2010 The Turbos now sit collecting dust and once in a while mabel, the cat, will put a big paw under the ball and flip it out of the track and chase it. I bought three of these in different styles and they each arrived the same day and they each kept our 2 cats entertained for about 2 months. Then, they went back to their catnip filled, furry dog and the rubber bats and they played with those longer
