Description

NasalClear is a new battery operated nasal aspirator. It quickly, easily, and safely clears your baby's stuffy nose and helps the baby breathe more freely. The NasalClear aspirator provides you with suction that is stronger than that of a traditional manual aspirator, yet gentle enough to use safely and comfortably on your newborn or toddler. Battery operation lets you control the suction, so that you maintain the suction or release it as needed.

NasalClear includes 2 different tips to accommodate different shaped nostrils and a variety of congestion conditions. The tips are made of soft silicone, making them comfortable for children of all ages. Although NasalClear has greater suction power than a manual aspirator, it is still gentle enough to use on newborns.

It comes apart for easy and thorough cleaning and is dishwasher safe. NasalClear includes a plastic collection cup that helps you evaluate your baby's level of congestion. Also, the aspirator plays 12 different children?s tunes to help distract the baby while in use. Requires 2-AA batteries (not included).

5lifesaver for a congested baby  Apr 22, 2010
This aspirator was a LIFESAVER for my baby (& me & my husband!). My little guy was so congested due to allergies & acid reflux that he could barely suck down a bottle without choking. This is the only aspirator that he could tolerate--I think largely to the distraction of the vibrating. I could just hug the pediatrician that recommended this to me!

1Waste of money  Apr 15, 2010
I bought this item because it looked really useful based on the description but I got really disappointed when I started using it.
First, the music sounds are really cool but when trying to play it to my baby it makes her want to touch it and grab it and actually paying more attention to it, making it more difficult to aspirate the mucus. So I wouldn't recommend it for a restless curious baby.
Second, the suction is around the same or actually less efficient than manual aspirator and takes more time, since it's a slow constant pressure. Therefore this does not aid to do the job faster.
Third, the mucus gets stuck in the middle parts of the system and never reaches the clear cup at the bottom, making it really difficult to clean. I would have to aspirate water several times to release the mucus from the inner walls so that it would finally enter the cup.
Fourth, I found it more difficult to use since you have to be holding the aspirator and pressing the button at the same time while holding your baby's head and preventing her to move.
Some people said to use the drops first to make them more liquid but in my experience even putting the drops to my baby is a challenge so in the same time I put the drops I could actually use the manual bulb aspirator and job done!
Bottom line, with a little of practice the manual bulb aspirator is easier to use and faster and aspirates more mucus than this fancy one :)

5Recommend to others!  Mar 16, 2010
If your baby hates that nasty bulb you get from the hospital then this product is for you. It has nice music you can play to help distract them. My baby would sometimes just want to play with it because he liked the vibration and/or music. Recommend to all new moms!

5It works like magic when you do it right. Angle it at a right-angle with the nostril.  Jan 29, 2010
I normally do not write a review. But I'm so impressed with this product I'd like to share my 2 cents. I disagree with the review that said it's not better than a suction bulb. It is 1000 times better! I have a baby who has a stuffy nose ever since he was born. It was a nightmare every time I used the suction bulb. My baby would cry like there's no tomorrow, and still, the bulb didn't take anything out. When it did, it stopped suctioning just as the snot is at the tip of the nostril, and baby will naturally breath it in again unless I wiped it out at a lightning speed... The battery aspirator keeps on suctioning until you release the button which will make sure that the snot will be completely out from the nose. Initially I was hesitant to buy this. The first time I tried it didn't work, but after reading the manual again and following the instruction, it worked like magic! You have to angle the aspirator at a right angle with the nose. Because my baby has sticky snot, not watery like the kind you see on a runny nose, I didn't see the snot go down to the collection cup. But when I checked my baby's nose, it is clear!! Apparently, the snot was stuck at the wall of the suction tip. I just suctioned a little water to clean it, and there was the snot ... go down to the tiny cup. If your baby has dry and sticky snot, I suggest spraying a little bit of saline mist on each nostril first before suctioning them out with the aspirator. It works for me... every time. This product is a sanity saver. Now, I don't have to feel like I'm abusing my son every time I clear his nose, which is what I would feel when I use the suction bulb. Definitely worth it!

1disappointed, weak  Dec 23, 2009
We own four nasal aspirators by now.
1/ bulb syringe
Works well, but takes too long. Not the easiest to clean properly.
2/ battery operated Graco/Bebesound (same thing) aspirator
Compared to the bulb it is easier to work with and clean afterwards, but not as effective, because the suction is weaker. OK for thin mucus, continuously runny nose. But even for that, if you have a baby like mine, who cannot stay still for half a second, you'll find this little machine to be too slow. (No, the music does not help.)
3/ Japanese "pigeon" aspirator
Supposedly the suction power is controlled by the parent. We were only able to use it effectively for thin mucus, for which the battery operated aspirator was more comfortable to use. Not any faster though.
4/ vacuum attachment nasal aspirator
This is the best, we put away all the others. It's a clear tube, consisting of three parts. The tip is not intrusive, it does not go into the nose, and it is designed so that the snot does not travel into the tube. The other end attaches to the vacuum cleaner. I know, this sounds scary, doesn't it? We were in Europe where we saw it in action (and I thought they must be crazy!) I bought one, tried it on myself when I had a runny nose and also when dry. No, it did not suck my brain out :) Actually, the suction does not feel strong at all, so it is somewhat surprising how well it cleans. Effective and VERY FAST. My baby has no problem with the noise of the vacuum cleaner, but even if yours does, you can turn it off in max 4 seconds. Winner.
